My Jesus

Today’s Practice of Praise brings back an old favorite from yesteryear. This lovely worship ballad found its way into many churches in the 1990’s. Perhaps you are familiar with it already. If not, I hope you find it enriching in your moments with Him.

Darlene Zschech’s My Jesus, My Savior was popular in a church we attended back then. I have captured in my mind a beautiful memory of our lead pastor from a church we attended back then. Many were the Sundays when, after a sermon or prayer, he would just start singing this, arms outstretched, his heart opened up for all to see. The music director would quickly pick it up, and soon the whole congregation would be worshiping. Since then, he has passed on to heaven. Here’s to you, Pastor Marc.

My Jesus, my Saviour,
Lord, there is none like you;
all of my days
I want to praise
the wonders of your mighty love.

My comfort, my shelter,
tower of refuge and strength,
let every breath,
all that I am,
never cease to worship you.

Shout to the Lord all the Earth, let us sing
power and majesty, praise to the King:
mountains bow down and the seas will roar
at the sound of your name.

I sing for joy at the work of your hands,
for ever I’ll love you, for ever I’ll stand;
nothing compares to the promise I have in you.
